Biography
Patti Lynn Bongiorno
"Childrens
causes were important to me even before I had children of my own. Now that
September 11th has occurred, I think it is my obligation and my privilege to use the
knowledge I have gained as a mother, the talent I possess as a writer and the skills
acquired as an entrepreneur for good works that benefit children. It is of urgent concern
that in the United States one in six children lives in poverty. It is of urgent concern
that 500,000 children live in foster care. It is of urgent concern that this nation of
great wealth and resources has, on average, a poor educational system. And it is of urgent
concern that the safety and security of all our children has been shaken. We need to shore
up our boundaries physically as well as emotionally and diffuse the fear that now
underlies such everyday activities as riding in an elevator, taking a plane or kissing our
children good-bye in the morning. We must help our children restore their sense of
security and hope for the future."
In addition to her
new venture, Bongiorno Books, Ms. Bongiorno is the co-founder and President of Natural
Decision Systems, Inc., a technology firm specializing in software for financial and
accounting professionals in the real estate industry. NDS was launched in January of 1990.
Their primary product today is Master View, an integrated set of tools including database,
analytics and an English language interface to evaluate real estate and real estate based
securities.
Ms. Bongiorno is a
New Yorker presently residing in Texas. She is the mother of three very lively and active
daughters still living at home, two adult step-daughters and four grandchildren. She is
proud to be an adoptive mom and actively encourages others to expand their families
through adoption. She has also been a Sponsor mom through a childrens aid society
for several years and found it to be a rewarding experience.
On behalf of Bongiorno Books, she has been
interviewed for newspapers, television, and radio in both the U.S. and abroad.
Ms. Bongiorno's work has been featured in such fine publications as Christian
Network Journal and Women's Day Magazine.
Ms. Bongiorno is a
well-respected speaker who addresses adult audiences about working within the business
community from a position of ethics, and translating ones personal values into
business practices. She reminds us that, "Social responsibility is an asset, not a
liability." She also speaks to children, discussing the creative process of writing
books and encourages them to express their feelings through writing and drawing.
