There are many opportunities to advocate on behalf of foster children. Individuals having skills that would be of specific benefit to youth transitioning out of foster care, may wish to volunteer their time as a mentor to one of 20,000 children who age out each year.

You can mentor college bound youth anywhere in the country through the Orphan Foundation's Virtual Mentors program or volunteer in person with a local youth transition program.

Foster care transition programs are locally administered so you must check in your area for specific contacts.

Don't have time to mentor? Contribute to the Orphan Foundation of America Care Package Program.   OFA administers scholarships and provides "family support" (care packages) for about 2500 former foster youth who are now college students.  They need bulk product and monetary donations to mail three care packages per academic year. Care packages include school supplies, dorm accessories and non perishable snack/goodies.
